Top Travel Offers This Week: July 22, 2025
Travel rewards news moves fast, and most of it is garbage. Instead of spamming you with every bonus that exists, here are the offers that actually make mathematical sense this week.
TL;DR
Apply this week: Citi AAdvantage 80K (record high) or Hilton Surpass 150K/130K (solid value)
Skip: Chase Reserve unless you spend $600+ monthly on dining/entertainment
Watch out: Emirates transfers getting 20% worse in September
Best quick win: Capital One 15x at CVS (if targeted)
๐จ Bonus Alerts
Chase Sapphire Reserve โ 100K Points + $500 Travel Credit (Offer ends July 31)
- What’s new: Welcome bonus jumped to 100,000 points + $500 travel credit after $5,000 spend
- The problem: Annual fee also jumped to $795
- The math: You get $300 dining credit + $300 entertainment credit annually. If you actually use both, the effective fee drops to $195. If you don’t, this card makes no sense
- Value breakdown: 100K Chase UR points = ~$1,500+ in travel value if transferred strategically to partners like Hyatt or United
- Best for: People who spend serious money on restaurants and events. Everyone else should skip
โ Apply for the Chase Sapphire Reserve here (only worth it if you’ll actually use all the credits)
Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select โ 80K Miles + $0 AF First Year (Record High Offer)
- What’s new: 80,000 AA miles after $3,500 spend in first 4 months + $0 annual fee first year, then $99
- Why it matters: This is the highest ever welcome bonus on this card – previous high was 75,000 miles
- Value breakdown: AA miles typically worth ~1.55ยข each = ~$1,240 in flight value
- Best for: American Airlines flyers or anyone wanting Oneworld partner access (Qatar, Cathay Pacific, JAL)
- Key perks: Free checked bag for you + 4 companions, preferred boarding, no foreign transaction fees
โ Apply for Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select (current offer: 80K miles + $0 AF first year)
Hilton Surpass โ 150K Points (YMMV) or 130K Guaranteed (Ends August 13)
- What’s available: 150K points after $3,000 spend (some people see this via incognito/referrals) OR guaranteed 130K + $0 AF first year
- Why it matters: The 150K offer is 20K more than standard, but not everyone qualifies
- Value breakdown: 150K Hilton points = ~$750 in hotel value, or 130K = ~$650 + savings on first-year fee
- Best for: Anyone who stays at Hiltons occasionally. The 6x on groceries/dining/gas actually adds up
- How to try: Use incognito mode or check referral links for the 150K offer
โ Try for 150K Hilton Surpass (incognito) or guaranteed 130K + $0 AF
IHG Premier โ 165K Points (Worth 3-5 Free Nights) (Ends soon)
- What’s new: 165K point bonus after $3,000 spend
- Value breakdown: IHG points typically worth ~0.5ยข each = ~$825 in hotel value
- The sweet spot: Holiday Inn Express properties cost 25K-35K points per night
- Best for: Road trip warriors and international budget travelers
- Skip if: You only stay at luxury properties (IHG’s luxury game is weak)
โ Apply for the IHG Premier Card here (current offer: 165K points after $3K spend)
๐ Devaluation Alert
Emirates Getting Worse: Amex Transfers Drop to 5:4
Starting September 16, transferring Amex points to Emirates gets 20% worse. Instead of 1:1, you’ll get 5:4 ratio.
Translation: That Emirates first class flight that costs 85K miles? You’ll need 106,250 Amex points instead of 85K.
My take: Emirates was already overpriced compared to other options. This just makes it worse. Focus on ANA, Air France, or British Airways instead.
โ ๏ธ Risk Alert: This may signal more Amex devaluations ahead. Don’t hoard points if you have a redemption in mind. Book now or transfer to stable partners like Schwab (1.1ยข) if you need cash value.
๐ณ Smart Spend Alert
Capital One 15x at CVS (Targeted) (May disappear at any time)
Check your Capital One app for 15x miles at CVS (up to 1,000 bonus miles). Spend $67 to max it out = about $15 in travel value for 10 minutes of work.
Pro move: Buy gift cards for places you actually shop. Don’t manufacture spend just to manufacture spend.
My Take This Week
Best offer: Citi AAdvantage 80K miles – this is a record high bonus and AA miles are incredibly valuable for Oneworld partners (Qatar business class, anyone?).
Also worth it: Hilton Surpass 150K (try incognito) or 130K + $0 AF (guaranteed). Easy spend requirement, immediate value, and the grocery/dining bonuses are actually useful.
Skip: Chase Reserve unless you genuinely spend $300+ monthly on dining AND entertainment. The math doesn’t work otherwise.
Watch out for: Emirates devaluation if you’ve been hoarding Amex points for that bucket list first class flight.
